Human Highway!!
Human Highway is a two man band formed by Islands frontman Nick Thornburn. Ex Islands band mate Jim Guthrie rounds out the lineup.
My research staff, which consists of me, didn't have time to confirm this...but I imagine that they culled their name from the Neil Young song of the same name... Here is an infectious little tune off of their brand new album 'Moody Motorcycle'

Wondering what's blaring through the speakers at our interns' desks? They'll tell you — themselves — in our newest feature What the Interns Are Listening To.
Who: Creature Feature, a Los Angeles two-piece known for their horror-movie-driven anthems, make the kind of music that will be immediately recognized by avid Danny Elfman fans. Formed after a Halloween party in 2005, the duo made up of Curtis RX on guitar and Erik X on synths get their inspiration from slasher flicks likeBlacula and Creepshow.
Sounds Like: Fantasy rock: Creature Feature's seemingly light, carnival-like songs have dark undertones and evoke lots of playfully gory imagery, like The Nightmare Before Christmasor Corpse Bride do onscreen.
Songs like "A Gory Demise," where the band picks a name that starts with every letter of the alphabet and sing about how that person died, make it evident that their story-based songs are fairytales for adults, almost like a morbid lullaby. Irony shines through much like Rocky Horror Picture Show or Phantom of the Paradise, where being ridiculous and absurd is the point.
Found It On: I recently came across Creature Feature’s MySpace page after lurking around for information on Schoolyard Heroes, a female-fronted band that also bases most of its sound on horror movies. Creature Feature and Schoolyard Heroes toured together in 2006. I was tempted to look at them based firstly on their band name. When I clicked on the songs I was glad to have discovered a band able to find the humor and irony in death.
We sat down with the manager of Oasis and he hooked us up with a bunch of Oasis rare tracks, live stuff, acoustic songs and never before heard tracks! And he gave us a crapload of tickets to the upcoming show at the Staple Center
So, we figured let's blow it all out this Friday on Rewind @ Noon! We are dedicating the show to Oasis and after EVERY song, giving away tickets!!
OMG, thanks for mentioning my name on the air and telling everybody that I responded to your comment about Scott Weiland's new solo album. Hopefully Scott was listening and will give me a jingle to thank me for having his back!
But I do agree with you that I would love, love, love to hear some new STP material.
Thanks Marco, you ROCK!
So how do I get to your top friends? I dont take life too serious either....lol. We hear good things about your show, btw. We need to start writing it on our recap sheets....(sam) but i'll tell u here. Have a good weekend.
That old lady was either insane or awesome, I can't tell which. Maybe both?
I'll have to check out Final Fantasy, I'm such a sucker for strings. Have you heard The National (recently opened for REM on their tour)? Like Airborne Toxic Event, the strings take it to the next level. www.myspace.com/thenation...
Usually festivals make me claustrophobic. Reminds me of The Hold Steady's song, "Chill-Out Tent"...
WOW...this afternoon was the sh*t! So totally loved it. Chris was awesome. Thanks for playing the songs, I got goose bumps just listening to them. I can only imagine what it must have been like being there live. Damn.
Aww, thats cool. But you're totally missed.
