    Sounds Of The Wild

    Grizzly Bear

    __________________________________________________

One band that has recently caught my attention is a band entitled Grizzly Bear. The boys are from Brooklyn, New York and manage to bring a very soft, relaxed, and borderline whininess to their music. I can't help but listen to their current single "Knife" over and over again. A love song intertwined with romantic lyrics and undertones of sadistic words on murder. I think if you enjoy bands like Belle & Sebastian, Beirut, and The Shins you will really enjoy Grizzly Bear. You can listen to their music here on their myspace.

Foreign Name, For A Foreign Sound

    Beirut

    _________________________________________________________

The past few weeks I haven't been able to go a day without listening to a song by an extremely talented band entitled Beirut. With front man Zach Condon spending his life in Paris, and New York he is able to bring mixtures of different cultures to the groups music. I mean, how often do you see a band where the lead singer plays the french horn and their also happens to be an accordion player? His voice is on a completely other level and is so hypnotic-al and whimsical it can make you feel like you actually are in a foreign country when listening. Beirut is coming to Los Angeles in late May for two shows and I'm crossing my fingers that I come into some funds and get to see them live. You can check out a few songs they have up on their myspace here.

    Collaboration AND New Single

Sunday, May 4, 2008, 09:58 PM PST [General]

    Props To Chris Martin

    _____________________________________________________

I've been a Coldplay fan for quite a few years now, and even was lucky to see them back in 2005 when they debuted their X&Y album at Coachella. But this last week really got me thinking about how phenomenal Chris Martin is as a musician. I absolutely love the new Coldplay track "Violet Hill" and am chomping at the bit to get the new album, but another single I'm absolutely loving is his current collaboration with hip hop king Kanye West entitled "Homecoming". I listened to the entire Graduation album when it was first released and remember hearing that single and how much I enjoyed it, but sadly I never got around to picking up Kanye's album. Maybe it had to do with the whole 50 Cent rivalry going on and I wanted to go against the grain and not pick a side .... anyways, I regret my decision now and just wanted to share with you that if you in fact have not yet heard the single that you should do so immediately. And the same goes if you have been living under a rock this last week and have yet to hear the new Coldplay single, go out and do it now because you can download it for free off their website. Here is the video for "Homecoming" enjoy!
